Rains, floods cripple southern Tamil Nadu; hundreds of passengers stranded
Chief Minister M K Stalin arrived in Delhi to discuss relief initiatives with Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the intense rainfall and heavy flooding in Tamil Nadu. The four southern districts of Chennai, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, and Thoothukudi were overwhelmed by the unprecedented rainfall, resulting in the death of three people. Rescue efforts, including the use of boats, were ongoing in flooded areas, and food was provided to over 50,000 affected individuals.
