Army to replace entire fleet of Cheetah, Chetak chopper fleet in next 10 years
The Indian Army's aviation corps plans to replace its fleet of Cheetah and Chetak helicopters with indigenously built ones within the next 10-12 years. The army is exploring options like leasing helicopters temporarily and then acquiring them from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. "For the replacement of Cheetah and Chetaks in Army Aviation, a two-pronged approach has been adopted. We are progressing with the induction of Light Utility Helicopters (LUH) and looking at alternative replacement helicopter, said a senior Army officer.
