After the single largest party — the BJP and the second largest party — the Shiv Sena —being unable to show their "ability" to form the government, it was the turn of the third largest party, the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), to be invited by Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to form the government.
