Google marks summer solstice with a doodle

Google on Friday celebrated the longest day of the year in Northern Hemisphere by dedicating a doodle. Also called summer solstice, or midsummer, the longest day occurs when one of the Earth's poles has its maximum tilt toward the Sun. The solstice occurs when the sun is directly over the imaginary Tropic of Cancer. In 2019, this will occur at 9:24 pm.
