CBI chief’s use of press office to defend himself raises questions

CBI director Alok Verma issued a candid statement on Friday through the CBI spokesperson’s office in his defence after the CVC opened an enquiry against him. The CBI statement was intended to defend its chief from allegations levelled by 1984 batch Gujarat cadre IPS officer Rakesh Asthana, currently special director in the agency.
