PFI conspiracy case: NIA raids 25 locations in three states

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday raided 25 locations spread across Bihar, Karnataka and Kerala, in connection with the Popular Front of India (PFI) conspiracy to radicalise and train its cadres and members for carrying out acts of terror and violence. A slew of digital devices, including mobile phones, hard disk, SIM cards, pen-drives, data cards, etc, incriminating documents and materials related to the banned organisation were seized during the raids.

Maharashtra: 53 years on, project to be opened tomorrow, cost up 655 times

The project was initially approved at Mhaladevi village in Ahmednagar in 1970 at an estimated cost of Rs7.9 crore. The dam was supposed to have a holding capacity of 11 TMC. Nine years on, in 1979, the project was relocated to Nilwande and the capacity was reduced to 8.5 TMC. With all the delays, the final cost of the project went up to Rs 5,177 crore - around Rs 5,169 crore more than the initial budget.
